About Mr February

Hi everyone, as loud as I generally am, it feels a little odd to be doing this, but off we go.

My name is Dave Harrison and I’ve been in and around the scooter scene since about 1979, following the release of Quadrophenia. And just like so many of us, I was hooked. The saving to buy a scooter started the next day, doing anything I could to get the money together washing cars, milk round etc.

Then the day arrived, so off I went, down to Sterling Scooters in West Drayton to purchase a shiny red Vespa 50 special and of course every accessory I could afford (forgive me, I was very young). That was it - buzzing around the streets of Harrow and the surrounding area at a stunning 28mph. Well the Mod phase soon faded when I started hanging around with the St George Elite SC (not sure they were impressed) at the Timber Carriage pub and scooter boy life sucked me in. My first rally was Margate on the 50 … 4 hours each way!!! I needed a bigger scooter!! 

The P2 was next up, quickly followed by kits, carbs and all the usual bits; anything to go faster. It served me well and off round the country I went.

A few breaks from scooters with time for family commitments and in the Royal Navy including some great times with other scooter boys who followed the same path; there aren't many P200Es that have had a trip in the hanger of a Destroyer.

The VW scene was next ... until a scooter pulled into the petrol station next to my Beetle and 2 weeks later I bought a Lambretta in bits….

I'm now living in Weymouth and am a proud member of the Lowriders SC. My travels have extended into Europe, opening up a whole new bunch of like-minded souls who have to suffer my attempts at their mother tongue (sorry about that).

Now the important bit - The Tour - personally, this one is for my Grandfather predominantly and for anyone who has had to suffer or witness the effects of Dementia and Alzheimers. 

I raise my glass to the families and carers.
